So I’m siting here in my rented flat in Central London apartment, wearing trendy Balenciaga Speedy Knit trainers (yes, I wear my shoes in the house – I clean it so I have all the rights to do it if I wish to) and suddenly I catch myself scrolling down every possible website and online retailer looking for the big, fat and ugly… Balenciaga Triple S. Yes, THE ugly sneakers. I actually have a crush on their new pink and yellow edition and cannot wait until it becomes available. It might come as a shock to the people who know me – to this day my shoe craving was mostly fulfilled by a new pair of high heels, just because it made me happy. Be it Pradas (never worn), Manolos (worn) or ZARAs, I would most often end up buying another pair of high heels, thinking I will wear them someday sometime. If you remember Carrie from SATC fighting with fiancé Aidan over a Roberto Cavalli outfit, which she wore once and never again, well hello, I can take a part in that scene too. I was never rational with my shoe choices, but this new ugly sneaker (or trainer, if you wish) trend is taking it to the next level. How did I get here and what can I choose from?

To begin with, it’s a clear fact that fashion has its rounds and circles and no one should be surprised seeing the comeback of forgotten trends from decades ago. I am actually quite shocked seeing things on the runway looking exactly like the ones which have been worn by my grandad in early 1990s back home in Eastern Europe. I promise, AW18 Balenciaga shirts and coats are a real tribute to his wardrobe. I thought I will faint when I first saw Triple S – it was so ugly to me and at the same time it brought so many memories from old times, that it just seemed surreal for people to buy it. Guess what, I was completely wrong, Triple S doesn’t even hit the shop floor majority of the times, since the waiting list is now probably as it is for Hermes Birkin. Another shocking moment was when the old fashion Nike Airmax as well as Nike VaporMax took all the fashionistas by storm. I mean, I can still remember how my classmates back in high school would get a pair of new trainers once in a season or maybe in two seasons, and these VaporMax ones were the coolest you can be seen carrying on your feet. These shoes are really ugly for me until today, but hey I might change my opinion the way I did with Triple S. Ok, now to the point, let’s see the hottest ugly sneakers in the market.

P. S. I must admit the Louis Vuitton sneakers. Which ugly sneakers would you chose?
